About Petter Solberg
Petter Solberg was born in the Norwegian town of Askim on November 18, 1974. He grew up at the family farm in Spydeberg, southeast of Norway. Here is a look back at Petter’s life. Grandfather Bjarne Solberg was no fan of motorsports at all, quite the contrary, but he made a turnaround as soon as his grandchildren Petter and Henning gained success behind the wheel. The Volkswagen cross-car belonging to mother Tove and father Terje was the first real vehicle that Petter was allowed to touch with their tools aged 11-12. At the age of 13, Petter Solberg became the national champion in RC cars. After several unsuccessful attempts to qualify for the finale in Drammen, gaining second place, he finally made it in the qualifying round in Fredrikstad. He made it to the Tamia Cup finale together with big brother Henning and 70 other youngsters from around Norway.
